Flower Power

We planted our precious calendula officinalis seeds during an unsually mild January weekend. They grew inside under our watchful eye for three months until the garden was warm enough to receive them. Calendula is prized for it’s wide array of healing properties and has been used in traditional homeopathic medicine for centuries. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine as an anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant and antimicrobial treatment. Among it’s uses are in the treatment of burns, cuts, rashes, and dermatitis. It is also an effective treatment for dry skin, and bee stings

We pick our calendula and chamomile flowers at their peak in the early morning. When they are dry, we infused them in organic jojoba oil for 6-8 weeks to extract as much beneficial resin possible. Our infusion is the main ingredient in our Calendula Chamomile Salve. It is also a key ingredient in our Citron Lip Balm, where we blend it with our own honey to create a moisturizing barrier for dry, chapped lips .
